Marjorie Menza comes to SJLF as a secondee from Hueston Hennigan LLP, where she practiced as a commercial litigator focusing on expert witness development in the biotech and tech industry. Marjorie brings a sharp eye to building factual narratives, designing investigation and discovery strategies, and mentoring our fellows to bring their own unique talents to bear on each of SJLF’s matters.

Prior to joining SJLF, Marjorie built her practice in white collar litigation, global investigations, and international arbitration, and traveled the world conducting FCPA investigations and bilateral investment treaty arbitration. A speaker of Spanish, Portuguese and German, Marjorie has practiced in multiple jurisdictions and worked with local counsel across the globe.

More recently, Marjorie was the first Pro Bono Counsel at the international law firm Debevoise & Plimpton LLP. There, she supervised hundreds of attorneys performing thousands of pro bono hours per year, from individual representation in New York City Housing Court to high-impact litigation before Circuit Courts of Appeal throughout the United States and in Supreme Courts overseas. Marjorie also managed her own docket of pro bono matters, including a number of U-visas for Spanish-speaking victims of trafficking, which earned her the Her Justice award of Pro Bono Liaison of the Year. Marjorie has also taught Legal Research and Writing at both USC Gould School of Law and UCLA School of Law.

Marjorie enjoys watching daytime soaps (at night), exploring and experiencing the many expressions of art in Los Angeles, and nagging her two teenage sons to do [just about anything].
